Bob Ford: A Profile

SOURCE: Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Bob Ford
There might not be a club professional in America who is more respected, more visible and who exhibits more professionalism than Bob Ford. Not only is he the Head Professional at Oakmont Country Club, but he spends the winter months serving as Head Professional at another historic club, Seminole Golf Club, in Juno Beach, FL both of which are annually ranked among America’s top ten golf courses. The arrangement is unique among club professionals, and only serves to crystallize the regard with which Ford is held in the golf industry.

Ford, 52, is the consummate club professional – an outstanding merchandiser, a player with the ball-striking skills of a machine, a teacher who conveys the nuances of the game in an understandable fashion and, perhaps above all, a gentleman.

His track record as a player – ten appearances in the PGA Championship, three in the U.S. Open, nine-time Player of the Year in the Tri-State PGA Section – is exceeded only by the manner in which he comports himself as the finest club pro in America.
