About the World Club Championship

The first forms of golf are recorded in history when members of clubs competed with each other in amateur tournaments and championships. Without the amateur game, there would be no professional tour as the amateurs are the foundation of golf. Over the last nine years, the World Club Championship has grown in stature to be one of the premier amateur golf events in the World. Players from eligible Clubs plan their calendars around their Club Championship for the opportunity to be victorious and receive the coveted invitation to the World Club Championship. The Championship week is like none other experienced in the amateur game, as players receive air transportation, accommodation and a week to be remembered for a lifetime. The players compete in an event that provides them a taste of the life of the top PGA pros, however, the spirit of the game and camaraderie remains the focus.

The World Club Championship is destined to live on and become part of the history of the grand old game.

The World Club Championship Charter

The World Club Championship celebrates two of golf's great and enduring traditions: The amateur golfer who is the heart and soul and spiritual custodian of the game, and the courses, clubs and associations to which he gravitates out of a common passion. This Championship embraces all things good about golf…Club Champions gathering for camaraderie, hearty competition, and to represent one of "GOLF Magazine's Top 100 Courses." Established in 2002 at The Club at Nine Bridges, the World Club Championship endeavors to perpetuate the traditions of the game.
