Club Champions from Top 100 Courses to Compete in Prestigious Amateur Tournament

Diamante Cabo Dunes Course

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (October 24, 2012) - The World Club Championship comes to the Dunes Course at Diamante Cabo San Lucas as club champions from 14 countries compete head to head for the Jay Lee Trophy beginning October 29 through November 2.

The World Club Championship, which began in 2002 as a way to celebrate two of golf's greatest enduring traditions: amateur golfers and the world class Clubs to which they belong, is one of the most coveted amateur events in golf.

It is truly an international event, having been hosted by: The Club at Nine Bridges, Jeju Island, South Korea; Sage Valley Golf Club, South Carolina, USA; and Reignwood Pine Valley Golf Club, Beijing, China. By hosting the World Club Championship, Diamante will solidify its prestige in the world of golf.

Diamante developer, Ken Jowdy said, "We are thrilled to host this year's World Club Championship. The competition and camaraderie has helped make it one of the premier amateur tournaments in the world, and we're honored that club champions from Top 100 courses around the world will play here at Diamante."

The Diamante Dunes course opened in 2009 and debuted at #58 on GOLF Magazine's Top 100 Courses in the World in 2011. Selected for its traditional links course sculptured in the sand dunes on the Pacific Coast of the Baja Peninsula, the course surrounds the golfer with pristine desert, private beach, and turquoise blue waters.

"Everyone is very excited for Diamante to host this year's Championship," says David V Smith, Founder and Director of the World Club Championship. "The amateur status of the Championship exemplifies the true spirit of the game and this year, we get to embrace it at one of the most desired vacation spots in the world," Smith said.

Participating clubs will be represented by their club champion and a partner of his choice with handicaps of 3 or less. The format will include two rounds of Four-Ball Stroke Play and two rounds of Four-Ball Match Play.

Diamante will be represented by Mason Jones and Enrique Guzman.

Clubs that are participating in 2012 include 2011 Champions Durban Country Club of South Africa, 2011 runner ups Royal Portrush Golf Club of Northern Ireland, Seminole Golf Club of the USA, Royal Troon Golf Club of Scotland (home of multiple British Opens) and Medinah Country Club (recent host of the Ryder Cup), among others.
