The 2nd Round of Four Ball Stroke Play & 3rd of Match Play

May 19, 2011

Jeju, South Korea – Day two of serious competition saw a battle of golf between teams and for all a battle with the elements. Strong winds and cool temperatures coupled with 2 rounds of play walking every hole helped determine the scores. The weather favored UK links course players from Ireland, Scotland, and Northern Ireland especially. Although Durban CC is on the coast with winds, the temperatures are warmer. In the end though, four very different countries were in the lead.

The first game of the second stroke play started at 7:00 am. After the second round, 3 nations and 4 clubs advanced to the final four. They were Durban Country Club from South Africa, Los Angeles Country Club from California, USA, Royal Portrush from Northern Ireland, and Seminole from Florida, USA. The semi-final was neck and neck with the result beyond calculation until the middle of the match. Match Play couldn't finish due to fog and darkness so the final four teams will finish the last of the holes tomorrow. Durban was leading Seminole by 1 up and Los Angeles & Royal Portrush are tied.

Teams that were eliminated will compete in the Chairman's Division stroke play tomorrow. The winner will receive an automatic invitation for the next World Club Championship.
