Bangkok by Day and by Night

Chao Phraya River Dinner Cruise

Bangkok, Thailand (December 5, 2016) - The second day of the 2016 World Club Championship was designated a free day, which gave the competitors and patrons the opportunity to explore Bangkok in the Amazing Kingdom of Thailand. Methods of transportation recommended ranged from taking a taxi, the tournament bus, the Sky Train, a Water Taxi or the auto rickshaw called a tuktuk. Day tour suggestions were to visit the Grand Palace and Temples, visit the local tailor and go discount shopping, take a long boat through the canals and shop for antiques, visit the national museum, or simply relax and have a massage and take lunch along the river. Most chose a combination of ideas.

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Verandah, a great riverside bar near the Central Pier, was the meeting place in the late afternoon where “Bangkok Night on the Chao Phraya River” began on the Grand Pearl Cruise II. Guests were entertained by a jazz band while cruising the river on a three-hour sunset sightseeing dinner tour. Many people commented that the sites were wonderful, the food was excellent, the band good, but it was the interesting people they spent time with that made the evening memorable.

The evening concluded with a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday with glasses clinking and well wishes for Joe Passov, GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Editor and a long-time friend of the World Club Championship.
